Gochujang Butter Noodles
Gochujang butter noodles is a Korean-inspired dish. Gochujang is a fermented chili paste, used in Korean cuisine for its depth of flavor and spicy kick, serving as the foundation for the dish's distinctive taste. Rich, complex, and irresistibly spicy, gochujang infuses the noodles with a depth of flavor that is both bold and comforting.
Butter is the second main ingredient, which lends a luscious creaminess and velvety texture to the noodles. As it melts into the sauce, the butter adds a richness that perfectly balances the heat of the gochujang, making each bite rich and indulgent.
The sauce is created by sautéing garlic and scallion whites in butter until fragrant. Next, the Gochujang, soy sauce, vinegar, and a touch of honey for sweetness are added to the pan. This mixture is cooked until forms a rich thick sauce. The chewy noodles are thrown in along with another slab of butter and mixed until everything is evenly coated.
A perfectly fried egg with a creamy runny yolk takes this dish to the next level. Finish it off with a spritz of lime juice and garnish with green onions and toasted sesame seeds for freshness and crunch. Gochujang butter noodles pair deliciously with a crisp, refreshing side salad or pickled vegetables to balance out the richness of the dish.
